Charity
Supporting Noble Causes
As part of owning Pallas Athena, I feel I should be sharing part of my profits with charity. As a guy who really has a soft spot for animals, I’ve chosen Home for Life®, a charity that provides, in their words, “life-time care for the special needs animal, the cat or dog that, while still able to lead a quality life, is unable to find a home due to age, chronic treatable disorder, handicap or similar reason.”
As an example, this is Stormy, the cat my wife and I sponsor on an annual basis. Stormy is blind in both eyes due to head trauma, most likely as a result of abuse. Home for Life® provides for his welfare and gives him a safe and loving environment in which to spend the remainder of his life.
A full $25 for every custom bike frame sold by Pallas Athena goes to Home for Life® so that they may continue what I consider to be an extremely worthwhile and noble endeavor.
Additionally, I try to do at least one charity ride per year. For 2012, that will be the MN Major River-to-River Ride, which support St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
As a new father, something happening to my kid is one of the scariest things I can imagine, and having a preemie baby who benefited highly from decades of scientific research, I want to be able to pay it back.
Next year, expect me to be hitting you up for donations.
