The Things I'm Thinking About

Kinda Quiet

It’s been a bit quiet around here lately. A few inquiries about new bikes and a few repair inquiries, too. But nothing jumping up and locking on. And that’s okay. The big thing for me lately has been getting back on top of the game and getting caught up on my backlog. Winter’s been dragging on and on and on and…you get the idea. With no heat in the garage, it’s been tough to accomplish as much as I’d like.

The Short-Term

But, spring is on the horizon — or at least, that’s the word. And that’s a good thing. Warmth = more time in workshop. More time in workshop = more happy customers, and happier framebuilder, too.

Tonight, I’ll be in the workshop while the kid sleeps, setting up the fixture (a slow process on a Bringheli), wishing I had the scratch to invest in an Anvil Journeyman, and getting some tubes mitered up and ready to go for a new front triangle. Oh yeah, and snapping some pics for Adam over at CycleEXIF, which I need to send out tonight.

The Rest of the Year

I’ve been thinking about 2013 quite a bit, too. About what I intend to accomplish this year re: this little business of mine, and how to best achieve it. The remainder of this year is going to be about getting my backlog eliminated, getting myself a couple of personal road frames built up, and figuring out some of the operations-side stuff so that I can eliminate long waits.

It’s going to be important to get a lot of this done this year as 2014 is going to be crazy — the wife and I are expecting a new child in early December of this year.
