The Things I'm Thinking About

Production

It’s been busy lately, and I’m pretty exhausted. The last four days have been some of my most aggressive in some time — where my production queue is concerned — Thursday through Sunday, I was spending at least four hours a day in the shop, which is awesome. I’ve been pretty backlogged for awhile now, and I want to get uncorked, get these bikes out the door and onto the road. To that end, I am seriously considering taking a week off from the office job and using that time exclusively for working on getting through that production backlog.

In addition to production, I also got my niece (6’9″) measured up for a frame, as she’ll be attending UCLA and needs some way to get around. It’s not even going to fit in the fixture. I also attended WordCamp (web/marketing stuff), stopped by Omnium Bike Shop, and borrowed Josh’s chainstay fixture from him.

Near-Term Production

So my plans for this week are to get a couple of bikes wrapped up and ready for paint, and do some measurements and analysis of the borrowed chainstay fixture so that I can pursue my own version of it (I have raw materials and 8020 extrusion ready to go). I’m also going to get a couple of forks built this week, as well. It’s going to be busy as heck for the next few weeks.

Future Production

I’m still antsy about building myself a frame sometime this year, and have a few more bikes behind the current two that I need to hammer out (see earlier statement about taking time off from the office job). And based on the hassle of getting the Bringheli fixture set up, I really need to think about saving up and investing in an Anvil fixture in the future, which would cut the setup time significantly.
