The Things I'm Thinking About

A Season of Thanks

Here in the U.S., Thanksgiving has already passed us by, and while I meant to get to this post before then, I was waylaid by the birth of my new son, Sam, on the 26th.  That delay obviously shouldn’t indicate that I don’t take my thankfulness less seriously than I should, merely that I prioritized family over a blog post.

Family

Obviously, my wife and my kids (now plural) are the thing I’m most thankful for. I’m also grateful for my in-laws this year, who have really helped us out a ton while we’ve been adapting to having both a toddler and a newborn. My father-in-law, Mike, has been super-helpful with stuff around the house that’s beyond my ability, and I greatly appreciate it.

Friends

A big tip of the hat goes to both Alex of A-Train Cycles, and Erik of Peacock Groove, both of whom we a big help in 2013. With their insights, I both honed my fabrication skills, and found ways to look at the business of framebuilding in a whole new light. And while I haven’t seen him much this year, Josh, of the now-shuttered Three Stars Cycles, was always good for conversation and beers. Hopefully we’ll find time for more of that going forward.

My Customers

You guys keep me in the workshop and your enthusiasm on receiving your new bikes has been infectious. Seriously, I love you guys — you’ve taken a chance on a newer builder like me, you’ve been great with the feedback, and it’s been a privilege to build for you.
